Start with the team’s SEMA role
An exhibitor team has different needs from buyers, media, executives or a customer-hosting group. Define who needs to be at the Las Vegas Convention Center early, who will spend the day in meetings, and who is responsible for evening hospitality.
For exhibitors, the trip often starts before the public show schedule because of setup, internal briefings or partner meetings. Build the hotel and transportation plan around the actual work calendar, not only the official show dates.
Hotel strategy for SEMA
SEMA takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, so daily access to the LVCC should carry significant weight. Teams that prioritize convenience often evaluate north/central Strip hotels and properties with practical Monorail or convention-district access.
Client-facing teams may choose a more premium hotel even if it adds some daily travel, especially when dinners, meetings and hosted evenings will happen at the property. Compare the total program — rooms, travel time, meeting needs and hospitality — rather than room rate alone.
Transportation: plan for event traffic
SEMA days can create heavy demand around the convention district. Use a layered strategy:
- Monorail access for teams staying near convenient stations.
- Pre-arranged SUVs or vans for executives, clients and fixed-time dinners.
- Clear group pickup locations away from ambiguous hotel entrances.
- Extra time when moving between the LVCC and evening hospitality.
Avoid depending on ten separate rideshare requests when a customer dinner has a fixed reservation time.
Build client hosting around the automotive audience
SEMA is especially well suited to relationship-building outside show hours. Strong options include private or semi-private dinners, golf for smaller groups, premium shows, and hosted experiences that do not require a long cross-town transfer after a full day at the LVCC.
SEMA Fest is scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2026. If team members or clients plan to attend, treat it as part of the itinerary rather than adding another competing event that evening.
Create a daily operating plan
- Set one morning departure time for the core team.
- Identify who can leave the show early for client meetings.
- Put dinner pickup locations and reservation names in the mobile itinerary.
- Give one person authority to approve same-day transportation changes.
- Keep hosted evenings realistic after long show-floor days.
Arrival and departure strategy
For exhibitors and teams with early Tuesday responsibilities, arriving Monday can be too tight if setup, briefings or customer meetings are scheduled. Build in enough time for hotel check-in, materials, badge issues and internal coordination.
Friday departures should account for the team’s actual final show responsibilities and any SEMA Fest plans. For international travelers, avoid creating a rushed transition from the show floor directly to the airport.
